Here are six critical features needed for
successful MCU searches
No tool on the market today provides any
of these --
GOPHER PC has them all !
|
1 |
Pin-sharing Resolution |
|
|
Resolving pin-sharing conflicts
Gopher PC is the one and only MCU search engine that accounts for pin-sharing in a search
request. This feature automatically takes into account when multiple
peripherals are assigned to the same physical package pin, and prevents
the selection of parts that have shared functional use on the same pin.
The Gopher database has knowledge of the pin requirements for each functional
block (e.g. ADC, DAC, UART, ROM, RAM, TIMER, etc) as
well as whether the pin requirements of those functional blocks overlap.
Let’s say you need two A/D inputs and 10 general purpose I/Os (GPIO). Gopher PC
first determines if the A/D requirement is using a shared-pin with a GPIO, and if so,
it deducts the A/D input from the available GPIO total count for the part being
evaluated. In this way pin conflicts are caught upfront and pin conflict MCUs are
eliminated from the search since they cannot be used for the desired
design project.
This "Pin Sharing Resolution" feature works with the following parameters:
A/D channels (including differential inputs) (effects GPIOs)
D/A channels (effects GPIOs)
Analog Comparisons (effects GPIOs)
Timer Compares (effects GPIOs and number of Timers)
Timer Captures (effects GPIOs and number of Timers)
External I/O Triggers (effects GPIOs)
UARTs, CAN, LIN, I2C, SCI and SPI interface requirements (effects GPIOs)

2 |
Searchable across all major MCU manufacturers
|
|
|
Are you tired of having to search for MCU's via
individual manufacturers' databases? GOPHER PC's database of search parameters
is extensive and consistent and can search simultaneously across all major manufacturers (see
Manufacturers in Database).
|
|
3 |
Consistency in the searchable parameters |
|
|
The parametric data for each parameter is consistently
described and searchable - e.g. standardization of all parameter headings along with
normalization of all data for each of the parameters, allowing for concise searches across all MCU
manufacturers. |
|
4 |
Narrowing search by eliminating unwanted MCU
features |
|
|
If too many MCU parts are returned from a search, this
proprietary feature helps limit the output to a manageable number of parts. User can reduce
the number of search returns to show ONLY those parts that represent the best fit according to
their pre-set preferences. That is, the search can be narrowed iteratively by eliminating
unnecessary functionality that is either unwanted or unneeded.
|
|
5 |
No limits on search criteria |
|
|
Searches allow as many parameters as necessary to be
specified at the same time. |
|
6 |
Quick response |
|
|
The search engine provides quick responsive searches
(matter of seconds) regardless of the volumes of data being searched - e.g. number of
manufacturers, MCU parts and/or number of parameters.
